Age-Friendly Glossary
What is 'Age-Friendly Design'?
In age-friendly design, buildings, public spaces, and infrastructure related to physical and social environments are designed to address the needs of all residents, from young children to older adults.
Age-friendly buildings and streets enhance accessibility for older adults, but also parents with strollers, cyclists and people with disabilities. Age-friendly neighbourhoods and public spaces are safe and welcoming to all, regardless of their age or ability.
What is 'Aging-in-Place'?
Aging-in-place refers to the ability to live in the same home or community safely, independently, and comfortably, as you age.
