MARKHAM 2020 – 2023 STRATEGIC PLAN SURVEY CONTEST RULES

ELIGIBILITY – The Contest is open to all Markham residents, business owners, workers, students and community stakeholders who have reached the age of majority in Ontario at the time of the Contest (or who provide proof of parental/legal guardian consent).  The Contest is not open to elected officials or employees of The Corporation of the City of Markham (“Markham”), or members of their immediate families living in the same household.   Markham reserves the right to verify the eligibility of the potential winners.

CONTEST PERIOD - The Contest starts on Monday, September 23, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. EDT, and ends on Friday, November 1, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

ENTRY – No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest.  Participants that sign up for an account on YourVoiceMarkham.ca and take the 2020 – 2023 Strategic Plan survey, will automatically be entered into the Contest.  Limit to a maximum of 1 entry per person.  Markham shall not be responsible for lost, late, misdirected or stolen entries, or the inability to process entries.  All Contest entries are the property of Markham. 

PRIZES: There will be eight (8) prizes awarded:

  • One (1) iPad (6th Generation, 32GB Wi-Fi)
  • One (1) Apple Watch (Series 3, 38mm, Space Gray Aluminum Black Sport (GPS))
  • One (1) pair of Apple AirPods (with charging case)
  • One (1) one-year fitness membership at Markham Fitness Centres
  • One (1) pair of tickets to Songs of Pride Land at Flato Markham Theatre
    (December. 28, 2019, 2 p.m.)
  • Three (3) $25 Tim Hortons Cards

 Only one prize will be awarded per Contest winner. The odds of winning will be determined by the number of eligible entries received by the Contest closing date/time. Prizes must be accepted as awarded, and are non-transferable and non-refundable.  Markham reserves the right to substitute any prize with a prize of equal or greater value.  All prizes are awarded as-is, and no warranties, guarantees or representations are implied or expressed.

DRAW – Potential winners will be selected by random draw from among all eligible entries received by the Contest closing date/time.  The draw will be held in Markham, Ontario on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.  Potential winners will be contacted by email.  Up to three attempts to contact a potential winner will be made.  After three unsuccessful attempts have been made to contact the potential winner, another name will be drawn.  This process will be repeated until all prizes have been awarded.  

PRIZE CLAIM - Prior to receiving the prize, each potential winner will be required to:  (1) show valid photo ID; (2) correctly answer a skill-testing question; and (3) sign a declaration confirming compliance with the Contest Rules, releasing Markham and its representatives from all liability in connection with the Contest and the prize, and consenting to the use of his/her name, city of residence and photograph (or other likeness), without compensation, in any publicity carried out by Markham.  If the winner is under the age of majority in Ontario, he/she must have his/her parent/legal guardian sign the declaration.  The signed declaration must be received by Markham prior to the release of the prize.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY - By entering the Contest, entrants agree that Markham shall not be liable for, and entrants agree to release, indemnify and hold Markham, its elected officials, directors, officers, employees, agents and affiliates harmless from any injuries, losses, damages, claims, actions and any liability of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly from entrant’s participation in the Contest or acceptance, possession or use of any prize that may be won.

PERSONAL INFORMATION - By entering the Contest, entrants consent to their personal information being stored, used and processed by Markham for the purposes of this Contest and any other purpose indicated by the entrant.

GENERAL - By entering this Contest, entrants agree to comply with these Contest Rules.  All decisions of Markham are final.  Markham may, in its sole discretion, prohibit any person from entering the Contest whom it believes to be abusing the Contest Rules. Such abuse includes entering false information and entering more than once.   Markham reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest or the Contest Rules at any time without notice. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws.
