The City of Markham has commenced the work to complete a City-wide Water Master Plan Update to support the community’s future growth and infrastructure needs.
This page is being prepared so residents, businesses, and interested parties can stay informed and subscribe for updates as the project moves forward. Project details and engagement opportunities will be posted here once the study begins.
About the Study
Markham’s water system delivers safe and reliable drinking water across the city. As the community continues to grow, long-term planning is needed to ensure infrastructure continues to meet future needs.
The Water Master Plan Update will:
Review and update the City’s water system model to support infrastructure planning and operations
Identify current and future system capacity needs and infrastructure constraints
Develop long-term water servicing strategies to support growth to the year 2051
Meet provincial planning requirements under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process
Include opportunities for public and stakeholder engagement throughout the study
Stay Informed
Community participation is an important part of the master planning process. Residents and interested stakeholders are encouraged to subscribe to the project mailing list to receive updates, including notices of engagement opportunities and study milestones.
