Where do you plan to implement the traffic mitigation measures outlined in the survey?

The proposed mitigation measures are intended to provide physical restrictions to address traffic concerns. At this stage, we are seeking community feedback on both the measures themselves and the existing traffic conditions in the neighbourhood.

Several conceptual applications will be introduced during the public meeting; however, final decisions on appropriate treatment(s) and locations would be based on a subsequent comprehensive, neighbourhood-wide traffic analysis, along with further community consultation.

We have already received valuable feedback from residents on how these measures may help address their concerns. These inputs will be considered as part of the future technical analysis.

Can you provide any updates on the Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE)?

Preparatory tunneling work began in August 2025. Construction of the launch and extraction shafts is currently underway at Yonge Street and Langstaff Road, where Tunnel Boring Machines will be assembled and deployed.

Metrolinx is also developing traffic mitigation strategies to manage construction-related impacts. These measures are currently under review and approval, and additional updates from Metrolinx will be shared with the community very soon.

Can you provide updates on Bridge Rehabilitation construction at Steeles Avenue and Bayview Avenue? It is creating additional traffic in the community.

This project is currently behind schedule. The delays are primarily due to complex utility conflicts that required redesign and additional coordination, as well as an on-site electrical issue that necessitated a temporary pause in construction activities.  Current completion date is Summer 2026.  Further updates will be provided on City of Toronto’s website.

What are the next steps after this public engagement for the traffic review?

The next step is to consolidate all community input received to date. A comprehensive technical analysis will then need to be undertaken, taking into account:

    • Community feedback
    • Latest traffic data
    • Upcoming nearby construction activities, including YNSE, City capital projects and approved developments, etc.

The results of this analysis, along with the proposed mitigation plan, will be presented to the community for further feedback prior to implementation.

Is there an action plan for enforcing current restrictions (e.g., non-compliance with the no-through restriction on Steeles Avenue)?

Enforcement of traffic restrictions relies on police resources and cannot depend solely on signage or voluntary compliance.

This is why physical mitigation measures are being considered — they provide a more effective and self-enforcing solution to ensure compliance and improve overall traffic management.

I do not live in the Grandview Area, but my community also has traffic issues. Why were we excluded?

The meeting was organized specifically for residents within the Grandview Area neighbourhood as the City has been receiving many traffic concerns that are unique and localized to that area.  However, we recognize that topics like this can be of broader interest, especially where communities are closely connected.  While your community was not included in this meeting, we are committed to keeping residents informed as the project evolves.  You are welcome to submit your email address to be included in our notification list for future updates or consultations.

How can I learn more about upcoming developments in my area?

You can visit the City’s Development Application Viewer (MappiT) to explore current development applications and track their status.
