A Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) is a research report that draws on data and analysis to describe current and projected future housing needs in Markham. The report requires information and analysis on:
Community profiles and trends
Economic characteristics
Housing supply and affordability trends
Projected housing needs
What is a Housing Needs Assessment?
Inform plans and policies moving forward to foster complete and resilient communities. The report helps all levels of government understand the local housing needs by providing data necessary to determine what kind of housing should be built and where. The assessment identifies key housing needs, inform city initiatives such as Inclusionary Zoning and Official Plan policies, and develops strategic measures to meet housing needs.
Get Involved
For the duration of this project the City of Markham will engage with various members of the public with emphasis on people disproportionately experiencing housing needs, service providers and Indigenous communities. This will be done through surveys and workshops on current and future housing needs. To get involved:
