Artist Bio: Cristian Santos is a 16 year old local markham singer/songwriter with a passion for music. He began playing guitar when he was 8 and started writing music at age 9. Even at a young age Cristian had a roaring passion for music. Cristian grew up listening to music ranging from Elvis to Green Day, studying live performances from various artists to shape and refine his skills as a frontman. Cristian is very comfortable on stage and can talk and relate to young and older crowds, a born entertainer. At a local bar he would play at quite often he was given the name The General for the way he took the stage
and commanded the crowd. He has played in many groups such as Open L8, Hayz, and Riot For The people. He also has a deep rooted history in music as his grandfather taught him how to play guitar, and his grandfather and his brothers also played in a band in the sixties. Cristians first guitar and the guitar he learned to play on was gifted to him by his grandfather who was his idol and Cristian always wanted to be like him. Cristians father before him was also lead singer in a band which is 3 generations of music in the Santos family. Cristians inspirations started in the folk genre learning mostly Gordon
Lightfoot songs and later propelled into hard rock such as Soundgarden and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and even traversing genres like metal and disco with artists such as Slipknot and the Bee Gees shaping a blend of music unlike any other artist. Taking elements from a wide variety of genres to create an original sound, the original track Fly Away was created. The song being submitted to the competition is called Fly Away which Cristian wrote at age 15 when his best friend Izaiah moved away to halifax.
