Artist Bio: Hi everyone! I am a grade 10 student, studying in Markham. I have been dancing since I was 2 years old, and started learning Kathak (Indian Classical Dance) when I was 6. My passion for dancing grew with age. Dancing bloomed my creativity and provided a way to express my emotions. I also like painting, playing the guitar, and enhancing youth representation in the community.

Kathak is one of the eight major forms of Indian Classical Dance. The Kathak piece that I have performed for Markham Creates on the song, Ghar More Pardesiya, reveals the happiness of a young girl upon the return of her beloved. The ecstasy experienced at the thought of her beloved's return is showcased by delicate, yet energetic movements of Kathak dance to create an aura of happiness.

What I love about Markham is it's unity in diversity. I am grateful to the City of Markham for such a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talents of its residents during the critical times of Covid-19. Thank you, and hope you enjoy my dance!
