Markham Public Art Community Visioning Workshop & Survey

Join us and share inspiration for Markham's public art program and the opportunities for public art at the Markham Pan Am Centre.
We are hosting a virtual work session to have conversations with community members about the potential for public art at Markham's Pan Am Centre, and for the City of Markham as a whole, through active participation.
Background
In fall 2019, Markham City Council approved a Public Art Master Plan 2020-2024, and the related Implementation Plan in winter 2020. The objectives of the Master Plan are threefold: to inspire people to live, work, visit and invest in Markham; to celebrate the city's diverse cultures and heritage from multiple points of view; and to connect residents to Markham's built and natural environment.
The Master Plan identifies the piazza of the Markham Pan Am Centre as a potentially significant public art site under the category of Key Civic Sites and Gateways. Furthermore, the Implementation Plan recommends the site for a major commission in year one of its five-year strategy.
We are excited to have conversations with community members and stakeholders about the potential for public art at the Pan Am Centre, and for the City of Markham as a whole, through active participation. Our art consultants, ART+PUBLIC UnLtd, will collate the key insights and findings gathered through all engagement activities, and organize the results in a final report document. The document will clearly reflect what Markham’s citizens want for the City’s Public Art program and Pan Am Centre commissions. The community engagement activities and final report will form the basis for developing the guiding principles and artists' brief for the Pan Am Centre site.
You can also have contribute input to the process by taking our survey. Take the survey now.
Thank you in advance for your time and participation.
