Elgin Mills Road Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study

The City of Markham has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study on Elgin Mills Road from Woodbine Avenue to McCowan Road.
The Study is being conducted in accordance with the planning and design process for Schedule 'C' projects, as outlined in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) process.
As part of the Future Urban Area Conceptual Master Plan, the City has completed Phase 1 (Identify the Problem/Opportunity) and Phase 2 (Identify Alternative Solutions and Establish the Preferred Solution) of the MCEA process for Elgin Mills Road within the Future Urban Area (FUA) boundary. For the study area outside the FUA, York Region completed as part of their Transportation Master Plan (TMP) Phases 1 and 2 of the MCEA process.
The City is now verifying and incorporating the findings of the York Region TMP into the study and carrying out the remaining Phase 3 (Examine Alternative Methods of Implementing the Preferred Solution) and Phase 4 (Prepare an Environmental Study Report) for the entire study area as illustrated on the above figure.
The FUA Conceptual Master Plan (Volume 2 - Transportation, Water and Wastewater Master Plan Class Environmental Assessment Study (Phases 1 and 2)), Final Report, dated October 23, 2018 was received for information by City Council on November 27, 2018 and is currently available on the City's website.
York Region's Transportation Master Plan is currently available on the York Region website.

Please submit any comments or concerns by March 18, 2021. Any input received by March 18, 2021 will be incorporated into the Environmental Study Report, which will be available for public review when the study is completed.
