Elgin Mills Road Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study

The City of Markham has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study on Elgin Mills Road from Prince Regent Street to McCowan Road.
The Study is being conducted in accordance with the planning and design process for Schedule 'C' projects, as outlined in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) process.
As part of the Future Urban Area Conceptual Master Plan, the City has completed Phase 1 (Identify the Problem/Opportunity) and Phase 2 (Identify Alternative Solutions and Establish the Preferred Solution) of the MCEA process for Elgin Mills Road within the Future Urban Area (FUA) boundary. The City is now carrying out the remaining Phase 3 (Examine Alternative Methods of Implementing the Preferred Solution) and Phase 4 (Prepare an Environmental Study Report).
The City will also be carrying out Phases 1 through 4 of the MCEA process from the west limit of the FUA to Prince Regent Street, and from the east limit of the FUA to McCowan Road.
The Study Area is illustrated on the project Notice of Commencement.
The FUA Conceptual Master Plan (Volume 2 - Transportation, Water and Wastewater Master Plan Class Environmental Assessment Study (Phases 1 and 2)), Final Report, dated October 23, 2018 was received for information by City Council on November 27, 2018 and is currently available on the City's website.
